Great food, good portions, reasonable prices! The staff is so nice - it was a hot day and we were sitting outdoors. The staff kept our water cups full and even went out of their way to move umbrellas around to the perfect position to keep everyone in our group shaded, completely unprompted but very appreciated!

I'm giving it 4 stars because I can't put 3 1/2 stars. I ordered the Cobb salad and a side of fries. Cobb salad, 4 stars, no hard boiled egg on their Cobb salad. Yay! Came with a toasted 1/2 bagel. Good. The fries were hot, and very good. I love fries. Now the not so good, parking was difficult. I parked a half block away. Not a deal breaker. Long Beach is crowded. The tables inside are small, and can get real load in there because of the acoustics. The help was very nice and friendly.

we came at 10:30 on a friday and were told it was a 45min wait. we only waited about 15 min and were given a table inside. inside is pretty dark but they are going through renovations at the moment. they also have a small patio that only seats a handful of people-- so if you want an outside seat you may be waiting longer. i wasn't sure what i wanted when i came in. as someone who no longer eats pork, my breakfast options have become limited. however, this place offers many vegetarian/ vegan options and pork substitutes like tofu, soy chorizo, turkey sausage and turkey bacon. they have a decently sized menu, many mexican inspired dishes to chose from as well as breakfast classics. i chose El Luchador which was an egg benedict with ranchero salsa, barbacoa, and black beans on a bolillo. it comes with your choice of side so i chose their tater tots, as that seemed like a popular option. i also ordered one classic pancake to share. the eggs benedict was amazing! the barbacoa was juicy and a tad bit spicy but not unbearable. the egg was cooked to perfection and it paired together nicely with the meat and salsa. i couldn't recommend it enough. the tater tots were your average tater tots, very nicely seasoned and crispy which i liked. the pancake was average as well. pretty eggy instead of cakey, i honestly wouldn't order it again. i'd go for one of their special pancakes instead. as for service, the staff was very nice. however, they weren't as attentive to us as i noticed the were with other tables. we had to gain the attention of a different server to help us with refills and other minor things. aside from that, it was a good experience here and i would definitely visit again.

Service at Blackbird is always great. I've been there several times over the years and there are severs who've been there the whole time. The restaurant is doing construction. They've opened up their dining space, but lost the open bar. Right now, it's a little bland - BUT they are still working on it. Normally, I have a breakfast burrito or an Eggs Benedict. These are both fantastic. I was too hot today and had the BLT with avocado. It was okay, not very flavorful, but their fruit was perfect. I appreciate they don't overdo the melon. I used to go here a lot, but their hours make it difficult to get here often.

This cafe is everything you want. All options are fantastic, the neighborhood is local vibes and the staff is very helpful.

I returned this time to dine in and was lucky to get my previous server Annette who is absolutely amazing. The portions are large. Pictures I have the Greek Omelet that took up half the plate. Dining outdoors to people watch and Annette and the other staff members came out to check on me frequently. Highly recommend giving them a try on a weekday when they are not quite as busy.

I visited for breakfast early on a Friday and was seated immediately. Our server was exceptionally friendly, guiding us to our table and mentioning we had arrived just in time before the rush. She was right--about 30 minutes later, a crowd had formed outside! The interior is a bit dim and seems to be undergoing some construction, but this didn't detract from the experience. While it may not be one of those trendy, aesthetic spots, it exudes a cozy charm. I opted for the Poutine Tots, a dish I hadn't encountered before, and it was absolutely delightful. The tender barbacoa, combined with the kick from the jalapeños and the creamy queso sauce, created a perfect harmony of flavors. The crispness of the tots added a wonderful texture, completing the dish beautifully. I think I've discovered my new favorite breakfast spot in Long Beach!

Cute place for breakfast. Parking is a little hard since its near the street but not too hard to find space if you there early. The food is good and tasty, the coffee is also good. Great service too. Definitely has a lot of option on the menu to try next time.
